Recreational Program Coordinator

Iriella Hicks

As Loyalist Gymnastic Club’s Recreational Program Coordinator, Iriella plans and manages all recreational programming including classes, birthday parties, PA days camps, school trips, March Break camps and Summer camps. Iriella started coaching recreational gymnastics at 15 years of age. A year later she began coaching competitive girls. Iriella coached at Toronto Gymnastics International for 9 years and became their Interclub Director during that time. Throughout her 21 years of coaching she has had the opportunity to coach across the country in a variety of roles including competitive girls, interclub boys and recreational classes of all levels from “parent and tot” to “adult”. Iriella is a level 3 WAG and MAG technical coach and is level 2 trampoline certified. Iriella is very passionate about gymnastics and is very excited to have the opportunity to share experience here at Loyalist Gymnastics Club.

 


 

Office Manager

Taylor Brodeur

As our Office Manager, Taylor holds a key position. She is our front-line person to parents. She started as our Office Manager in May 2018. Responsibilities for the Office Manager position include answering phone, greeting and directing customers, accounts management, customer service (with a smile). Taylor is your go-to -girl for customer service issues, taking payments and other general questions or concerns as appropriate about our recreational and competitive programs, birthday parties and day camps.

Taylor is dependable, professional, self motivated and extremely hard working. LGC is very lucky to have Taylor as a part of our team.

Women’s Head Coach (WAG)

Laura King

Laura is a Level 2 NCCP certified coach in Women’s Artistic Gymnastics and Trampoline.  She is certified in first aid and CPR, as well as in “Respect in Sports” and “Risk Management”.  Coach Laura has a bachelor’s degree in Physical Health and Education from Queen’s University.   Her coaching career started at age 14 and she has coached a variety of programs since that time, starting with parents and tots and other youth gymnastics programs and is now coaching LGC’s Competitive Optional Team (Level 6+).  Laura took over as LGC’s Women’s Head Coach in June of 2017 and has 7 years experience as head coach at another local club previously.  Laura’s goal is to help kids reach their fullest potential in both gymnastics and everyday life.  Our Women’s Program aims to instill the characteristics that these young girls will need to become successful women in the future.

Men’s Head Coach & Technical Director (MAG)

Alexander Jeltkov (Sasha)

Sasha is a many-time Canadian champion, two-time Olympian, a World Championship silver medalist, a Pan American and Commonwealth Games gold medalist, a World Cup Gold Medalist, and a solid anchor of the Canadian Men’s Gymnastics team. Sasha comes to Loyalist Gymnastics Club after retiring in late 2007 from competitive gymnastics to share his experience and expertise with young gymnasts in the Kingston and Eastern Ontario area.

Men’s Assistant Head Coach (MAG)

Mattie Sergeant

Mattie is a former LGC National Team Gymnast. He came to Loyalist Gymnastics Club in 1999 and began competing in 2001. Mattie’s first year qualifying at Nationals was in 2008 and won the Canadian Championships in 2009 in the MAG National Open Category. He was then granted permission to move into Senior High performance in 2010. In 2014 and 2015 Mattie was selected to compete for Team Canada in International Competition.

Mattie began his coaching career in 2006, where he coached recreational gymnastics on non training days. He was LGC’s recreational supervisor until 2014, where he then started coaching within the Women’s Competitive program for two seasons (Assistant Head Coach for one). Now Mattie is our MAG Assistant Head Coach in his third season and is a big part of why our MAG team is so successful.

Mattie not only coaches boy and girl gymnasts, but also helps train cheerleaders from various Kingston clubs.
